Introducing Speaker No. 5, Dr Owen Emmerson, author, historian and all round celeb!
Today's featured speaker from the "Anne Boleyn, the Woman who changed England" online event is Dr Owen Emmerson, my co-author, friend and all round celebrity! You can't turn on a history programme or switch on the radio at the moment without Owen being featured, can you? I do tease him!
Owen is just one of eight speakers taking part in our online event. "Anne Boleyn, the Woman who changed England" is a week of daily talks and live Q&A sessions with THE best Anne Boleyn experts where you'll meet a very new Anne Boleyn and understand why she changed the course of English history. It's taking place completely online, so you'll be able to attend from the comfort of your home, which is brilliant in these uncertain times.
Owen is the Castle Historian and an Assistant Curator of Anne Boleyn's childhood home of Hever Castle.
He completed his doctoral research on the abolition of corporal punishment at Sussex University.
In 2021, he published his first book, "The Boleyns of Hever Castle", with his co-author, me, Claire Ridgway.
He has appeared in several documentaries on the Tudor Era, including the three-part BBC docudrama "The Boleyns: A Scandalous Family" and a My5 documentary "Lady Rochford" on Jane Boleyn. He is also the co-founder of Hever Castle's online subscription site "Inside Hever Castle".
Owen is talking at my Anne Boleyn, the Woman who Changed England event, with his fellow Assistant Curator Kate McCaffrey on "Bothe lovynge and kynde: Representation, Image and Agency in the Life of Anne Boleyn".
Do join Owen and seven other Boleyn experts in "Anne Boleyn, the Woman who changed England" 28 Feb to 6 March.
